In 1999, Clear Channel consolidated its positions in Europe by buying Dauphin, a leader French outdoor advertising company with businesses in Belgium, Italy and Spain. Other major acquisitions allowed Clear Channel to enter the German, Swiss and Eastern European markets. Clear Channel’s outdoor business is now in first or second place in most major European markets.
Expansion into the Asia Pacific region continues. The company has a strong presence through joint venture partners in such countries as China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia.
In 2001, Clear Channel entered a partnership with Independent News & Media to gain market leadership throughout Africa.
